Community calendars usually work like mailboxes: organizers submit events, then nobody updates them. Times change, shows sell out, whole festivals get canceled — and the calendar never hears about it. The listings you find are the ones someone remembered to type in, weeks ago.
We built Eugene.Live the other way around. Our system reads the sources that are already authoritative — venue calendars, box offices, the city's own feeds — and treats every fact as a claim that must be verified before you see it.

Discover. Scheduled watchers sweep 25+ approved local sources — major venues every few hours, city and tourism calendars twice a day, smaller rooms daily. Only sources an editor has vetted for legitimacy and lawful use are ever read.
Verify. Every extracted field — date, time, venue, price, ticket link — keeps a pointer to the exact source that claimed it. When two sources disagree about something critical, the event goes to a human editor instead of the homepage. Nothing is ever guessed: an event with an uncertain date simply doesn't publish.
Publish. Each event carries a confidence score. High-confidence events publish automatically; borderline ones wait for editor approval; weak ones never surface. Duplicates from different sources are merged into a single listing that cites all of them.
Keep watch. Publishing is the beginning, not the end. Events are re-checked on an accelerating schedule — weekly when they're a month out, every two hours on show day. Cancellations, postponements, sellouts and time changes surface within hours, and people who saved the event are notified.

These constraints are enforced by the system itself, not by policy documents:
No source, no event
Every event traces to at least one approved source, and every critical field carries its own evidence.
No guessing
Missing details stay missing. The system may never invent a time, a price, or a ticket link.
Humans outrank it
Editor corrections always win, and locked fields can never be overwritten by automation.
Everything reversible
Every change is versioned with a full audit trail. Any event can be rolled back to any prior state.
And the timestamp you see on every card — verified 2h ago — is real. It's the moment we last confirmed the listing against its sources.
